Terms of use
The short version.
Plain-English terms for using SwapHarvest. By signing up you agree to these.
The platform is provided AS IS
SwapHarvest is a small, solo-built service. It comes with no warranties, express or implied. Things may break, downtime may happen, and listings may go stale. We do our best, but we can't promise perfection.
You're responsible for what you swap
SwapHarvest does not inspect, test, or certify any of the goods listed. You're responsible for ensuring anything you offer is safe to consume or plant, accurately described, and stored hygienically. You're equally responsible for assessing anything you accept. If you're unsure about food safety, don't swap it.
Food safety
Raw milk, raw or undercooked meat, raw seafood, and home-canned low-acid foods are not permitted on SwapHarvest. The community guidelines and food safety pages spell this out further, including the everyday goods that are welcome and the handful that aren't.
Strictly no money
No cash, no bank transfers, no gift cards, no payment apps, no “I'll shout you a coffee instead”, no swapping goods for credit on another platform. SwapHarvest is a barter service. Any attempt to exchange money through the platform breaches these terms.
Be a decent neighbour
Follow the community guidelines. Don't harass other members. Don't post misleading listings. Don't try to use the platform commercially.
Account suspension
We may suspend or remove accounts that breach the community guidelines or these terms. Usually we'll send a friendly message first. Serious breaches (harassment, deliberate misrepresentation, attempts to exchange money) lead to immediate removal.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, SwapHarvest and its operator are not liable for any loss or harm arising from goods swapped between members, meetings arranged via the platform, or platform downtime. Where Australian Consumer Law implies guarantees that can't be excluded, those guarantees apply.
Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by a friendly conversation is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
Changes
If these terms change in any meaningful way, members will be emailed before the change takes effect.
