Privacy

What we collect, in plain English.

SwapHarvest is built to keep things small. Below is a friendly summary of what data is stored, where it lives, and how long it sticks around.

What we collect

  • Your email address, so you can sign in and receive swap notifications.
  • A display name and (optional) profile photo.
  • Your suburb and postcode. We convert that to a centroid (a rough geographic centre) so the map can show distances. We never collect or store your street address.
  • Your listings, swap proposals, and in-app chat messages.
  • Basic technical logs (request times, errors) used to keep the service running.

How we use it

  • To run the platform and show you nearby listings.
  • To send transactional emails: sign-in links, swap proposals, and pickup reminders.
  • To diagnose bugs and keep the service stable.
  • To moderate listings and respond to reports.

We do not sell your data. We do not run third-party ad tracking.

Data residency

Where your data physically lives matters. We've picked Australian-region services wherever we can.

  • Supabase hosts the database, authentication, and uploaded photos. The SwapHarvest project lives in the ap-southeast-2 (Sydney) region. Supabase handles your data under their own privacy policy.
  • Resend handles transactional email delivery. They process your email address and the contents of the messages we send you, under their own privacy policy.
  • Vercel runs the SwapHarvest application and serves the web pages you see. Compute happens in their Sydney region (syd1) where available, under their own privacy policy.
  • PostHog stores anonymised product analytics. Sentry stores error reports for diagnostics. Both run under their own privacy policies.

Retention

When you delete your account, we purge your profile, listings, swap history, and chat messages within seven days. Aggregated, anonymised analytics may persist beyond that window because they no longer identify you.

Logs and error reports are retained for up to ninety days for troubleshooting, then automatically rolled off.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings, or by emailing privacy@swapharvest.com.au. Deletion removes your profile, listings, and chat history within seven days, as noted above.
